The Grafana project was started by Torkel Ödegaard in 2014 and has become one of the most popular open source projects on GitHub over the past few years.
It supports databases such as Time Series (Graphite, Prometheus, Elasticsearch, OpenTSDB, InfluxDB), Cloud Monitoring (Google Stackdriver, Amazon Cloudwatch, Microsoft Azure) and SQL (MySQL, Postgresql).
It can be used as open source, as well as Cloud and Enterprise options.
It provides the opportunity to visualize and query data and create alarms related to metrics.
